Feline pancreas-specific lipase (fPL) is an assay used to assess pancreatic health in dogs and cats.fPL is primarily used to diagnose and monitor pancreatitis in dogs and cats, a common pancreatic disease characterized by inflammation and necrosis of pancreatic tissue. The clinical manifestations of pancreatitis include vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, fever, dehydration, etc., and severe cases can lead to multiple organ failure and death. The causes of pancreatitis include genetics, diet, drugs, trauma, ischemia, infection, etc. FPL can also be used in health checks to assess the overall health of the pancreas, as some animals with pancreatic disease may not have obvious clinical manifestations.
